Radicular Pain and Auto Injuries
Another common problem we see in our chiropractic office is radiating or radicular pain. Many of our patients who have been injured in a car accident experience this symptoms. If your spine is injured during a car wreck, there are a number of things that can affect the nerves.
Injured ligaments and muscles can cause irritation of the nerve root, which can disrupt the performance of the nerve. If a vertebral disk is injured, it can cause the disk to protrude or herniate, pinching the nerve. And if the spinal joints begin to calcify, it can lead to spinal stenosis, or a constricting of the canal that the spinal nerves pass through.
The key element to treating radicular pain is to pinpoint the exact origin of the problem causing the compression and then work to release the stress on the nerve.
If you have been in a car wreck and have signs of radicular pain, Dr. Benko is here to help. We can help establish the root source of your problem and develop a plan of action to help you reclaim your health. We've helped many patients in Schererville, Crown Point, Dyer, and Highland, Indiana, heal from these types of injuries.
